EHD Pilot 3 - Collaborative Bundle 1 At Planning Stage

Two projects that were bundled through the Edinburgh Home Demonstrator's Pilot 3 have been submitted for Planning approval. A total of 109homes are proposed at the sites in Wallyford, East Lothian and Burdiehouse, Edinburgh for 60 and 49 affordable units respectively.

Pilot 3 has focused on collaborative procurement with 12sites across 5 local authority regions being bundled together to complete a feasibility study as a collective. As a result of the feasibility studies the two project have continued to align their programme and have appointed the same design team to develop the projects in tandem.

By using the SE-RDA typologies and performance standard the design team gain a process saving, improving efficiencies and therefore reducing the associated costs. Furthermore, by developing the projects together there is an economy of scale that would not be achieved if the projects were developed individually.
